Pedders Gas Sports Ryder (GSR) sealed Strut
Pedders’ Sports Ryder range represents the ultimate in performance suspension. Sports Ryder products, when integrated into a fully balanced Sports Ryder system make a great enhancement to a vehicle’s handling and safety. Sports Ryder coil springs, bushes, shocks, sway bar links, strut mounts, struts and tower bars improve traction, ride quality, turn-in and cornering ability with greater steering precision and stability under braking.

Sports Ryder Shock Absorbers
Pedders has built its reputation on the ability to fine tune shock valving for precision handling and ride control. Utmost durability is also part of Pedders’ commitment to our Sports Ryder customers.

All Pedders Sports Ryder shocks and struts are manufactured with features specially designed for long life performance and reliability. Pedders Gas Sports Ryder Shock Beyond all else, Pedders has a comprehensive Sports Ryder range to meet the needs of all drivers and applications.

The gas-charged GSR Sports Ryder shock range uses high nitrogen gas pressure to enable precise control without compromising on ride comfort.

Sports Ryder Coil Springs
Pedders Sports Ryder Coil springs are the foundations of the modern suspension system. Their spring rate and ‘loaded’ or installed height are fundamental in influencing chassis dynamics, vehicle balance and ride quality. And of course, the loaded height determines the vehicle’s ride height and its ‘trim’ or attitude. Pedders Sports Ryder coils are designed and engineered to the highest quality standards to deliver unrivalled performance, consistency and reliability.

With Pedders Sports Ryder Coil Springs the handling of most vehicles is substantially improved by increasing the original spring rate to a rate which reduces body roll and, in turn, aids tyre adhesion - without causing undue harshness or rigidity. Coil spring design and manufacture is a craft which requires strict adherence to a demanding series of procedures, all of which are critical to the performance of the final product.

All Pedders Sports Ryder coils are manufactured at our Spring manufacturing plant located at Pedders Suspension Head Office in Keysborough Victoria Australia.

Pedders Sports Ryder Bushes
Bushes are used to position and align suspension and steering parts. Worn bushes can cause rapid tyre wear, loose or pulling steering and also lead to increased braking distances and unsafe handling.

Pedders’ urethane bushes make an ideal replacement, offering a high capacity to bear tension, compression and friction. They are also well suited to applications that require firm suspension.

Pedders Comfort Gas
Pedders Comfort Gas Shock Absorbers with Velocity Responsive Damping The unique Velocity Responsive Damping (VRD) system is ideal for people seeking higher levels of performance either to improve aspects of their older vehicles or match the race-bred technology of newer cars.

The key to the VRD system is a newly developed VRD valve featuring a micro orifice located in the shock absorber piston through which the oil flow is controlled resulting in a progressive shock response rate throughout the full range of shock travel. The passage is extremely narrow enabling oil to flow freely at low shock speeds but restricting the flow at higher speed rates when oil velocity increases. The end result is the most responsive shock absorber currently available on the market.

How the VRD system works
The secret to Pedders’ evolution VRD is a unique, micro orifice (very small passage) located in the shock absorber piston, through which oil flow is controlled.

The passage is extremely narrow and tooled in a special way so that oil flows freely at low shock speeds but is resisted at higher speeds when oil flow velocity increases (as encountered in rough driving conditions or through frequent changes of direction or acceleration).

The Benefits of VRD
VRD shocks achieve a progressive, responsive damping rate and offer a variety of benefits compared to conventional shocks:
- The unique nature of the oil flow provides a progressive response to ever changing road conditions. Unlike existing "position sensitive" shock absorbers that switch between firmer and softer control, Pedders VRD shocks provide a progressive shock response rate throughout the full range of shock travel.
- The unique micro orifice has removed the need for an extra valve or diaphragm. This means there are fewer moving parts and hence longer service life.
- The shock operates at all speeds, from very slow to very high.

VRD & Normal Driving Conditions
Comfort Gas Strut Under normal driving conditions, the flow of oil through the micro orifice is continuous. But when the speed of the shock increases, oil is forced through the passage at a faster rate, i.e. a greater volume per second. Under these conditions, the layer of oil closest to the orifice’s surface is relatively "sticky" and moving slowly while the inner layers flow more quickly. This is due to the laminar, or layered nature of the oil flow.

Comfort Gas Shock Therefore, at low shock speeds, the layers flow in a normal manner. But as shock speed, and hence oil flow increases, so does the resistance to the flow, to a point where no matter how much more pressure is applied, flow is constant.
